Swich BE-Login / CH-LOGIN to AGOV
Case study: «Disconnection BE-Login»

Machine translated

Background

From December 2024, the Canton of Bern will use the Federal Government's AGOV registration procedure for e-services accessed via BE-Login. Further information about BE-Login with AGOV can be found at

This change also affects the use of the BE-Login as Bring Your own Identity (BYOI) for online services of the Swiss Federal Administration for people who have already used the BE-Login in a federal context.

Important:
People who have never used the BE-Login in a federal context are not affected!
Please use your new AGOV account to log in to the Swiss Federal Administration's online services, and NOT the BE-Login.

Effects

  • Setting up AGOV for use with BE-Login does not mean that AGOV can be used directly in the federal context.

The AGOV-Login process will display an error message (Figure in the next entry).

It is absolutely essential that such users carry out one of the actions listed below, depending on their situation.

  • Using the AGOV login for federal applications directly when logging in will result in an error.

The reason for this is that the email address is already occupied by the BE-Login account for technical reasons and a redundancy of the email addresses is not possible for security reasons.

    Error message

It is absolutely necessary that affected persons perform one of the actions listed below, depending on their initial situation.

  • When using the BE-Login to access online services of the Swiss Federal Administration, the BE-Login is initially linked to a CH-LOGIN when logging in.
This link must be removed. In addition, it must be ensured that the linked CH-LOGIN has valid login factors.

The BE-Login is designed as Bring Your own Identity and is always linked to a CH-LOGIN for technical reasons. This CH-LOGIN can in turn have login factors and be used independently – but this is not absolutely necessary.

Linked CH-LOGINs with login factors do not pose a problem, as they ensure that the online services of the Swiss Federal Administration can still be accessed after the BE-Login has been deactivated.

However, CH-LOGIN accounts without login factors are problematic. After the BE-Login has been deactivated, access with these accounts would no longer be possible.

Important: Subsequent migration is not supported. Accounts without stored login factors will be archived when the BE-Login is deactivated. All access rights to the applications of the Federal Administration will be lost and would have to be reapplied for in full.

  • CH-LOGIN will also be replaced by AGOV in the course of 2025. The BE-Login will then no longer be available.

AGOV will become the new CH-LOGIN. Further information can be found at . As part of this changeover, the BE-Login will no longer be offered for accessing online services of the Swiss Federal Administration, in line with the changeover at the Canton of Bern from July 2025.

In order to keep your authorisations for Federal Administration applications, you must take one of the actions listed below if you have used your BE-Login for this purpose.

If you have already set up an AGOV account, we recommend that you link it to your CH-LOGIN. This will make it easier to replace the CH-LOGIN, as this step will then be carried out automatically for you.
