Registration Instructions

Registration must be completed on a device where you can use the Smartcard for login.
Log in at MyAccoun
Navigate to the Login & Security tab.

- Selecting a security key registration.
Register a security key by clicking Register in the corresponding tile.

- Re-authenticate.
Follow the steps below.
To make changes, you must re-authenticate using your Smartcard certificate. Click Continue to proceed.

- Enter a name for the FIDO security key.
Give your security key a name so that you can manage it later, then click Continue.

- Brief instructions and information.
Read the information about the Windows Hello security key, and click Start to begin the registration.

- Select security key.
Select the type of security key, click Next, and follow the remaining prompts until registration is complete.

- Successful registration of the FIDO security key.
Your security key is now registered.
You can now use your FED-LOGIN from the internet without a Smartcard, using your registered security key.
Log in from a private device outside the federal network using your registered security key instead of a Smartcard.

- FED-LOGIN login with FIDO security key.
This enables access to data with a high protection requirement (QoA50).
What should I do if my security key no longer works?×
If your FIDO security key no longer works or if you no longer have it, obtain a new one and follow these steps:
- Log in using your Smartcard at eIAM MyAccoun
t and remove the registration for the affected security key.-
- Remove the FIDO security key.

- Register your new security key as described in the instructions above.
